If I was asked. What do I want to be when I grow up? I would have to say, a photographer.
Neville began his photography at the early age of seven when he used to borrow his dad's folding Kodak camera, but was greatfull to his dad when he purchased a Yashica rangefinder, he now had a real camera to use.
On leaving school Neville wanted to study photography at Swansea University, but with two younger brothers his parents were unable to afford the fees, so he did what any other good son does, got a job as a hairdresser.
After marrying a girl from Pontypridd (Of all places), Michelle and Neville migrated to Australia in 1982, where he continued to take photos, with the hope of one day having the courage to jump in full time and become a professional. But now with two children, Rhys, Emma and a mortgage his dream seemed a long way off. Then in 1989 after arriving home from work feeling that time was traveling to fast, both Michelle and Neville decided now was the time to live the dream. They sold their first home and used the money to purchase a 4 wheel drive, caravan and travel around Australia for a year.
All four had an incredible journey, meeting some wonderful people, experiencing wonderful places, Rhys had his first helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungle's in WA and both saw their first cow being born in a paddock, being pulled out by a farmer in Victoria.
On their return to the Central Coast Neville started the job of setting up a photography business and introduce Ely, their third child to the world, well there was no TV. Neville's first job's were working for PR companies, ad agencies and tour companies in the local area.
In 1992 Neville was one of six photographers to be asked to take a trip around Australia teaching photography to under priverlidged children from different states, for a new book, "Australia Our Land". Neville's leg of the trip was from Port Headland to Perth, 15 day's as, a dad, confidant, councilor, grumpy old welshman and not least photography teacher.
